Podcasting and Recording Lectures

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting generally refers to providing audio files online that learners can access, such as simple download or streaming: it means that special client software applications known as podcatchers (such as Apple Inc.'s iTunes) can automatically identify and retrieve new files when they are made available, by accessing a centrally-maintained web feed that lists all the podcasts 'episodes'. New files can thus be downloaded automatically by the podcatcher and stored locally on the user's computer or other device for offline use, making it simpler for the user to download content that is released episodically.  A podcaster is the person who creates the content.  See more at Wikipedia here

What is Screencasting?

A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration.  Screencasting is synonymous with lecture capture - creating a video of the presentation with the accomanying voice of the instructor.  Screencasting is likely to become a very popular technique for imparting high-quality knowledge at a low cost.  See more at Wikipedia here.
